In the sprawling tale of the Adani Group, where business acumen, ambition, and innovation have reshaped industries, one individual has quietly emerged as the heart and soul of the conglomerate’s humanitarian endeavour’s. Dr. Priti Adani, the Chairperson of Adani Foundation, is not just the wife of Gautam Adani but also a symbol of compassion and dedication to making a meaningful impact on society. Over the years, her unwavering commitment to uplifting the lives of the underprivileged and her proactive leadership within the Adani Foundation have illuminated countless futures, earning her the well-deserved title of ‘The Human Face of Adani Group.’
The Adani Foundation’s journey began in 1996 with a vision to foster sustainable development and bring about a lasting change in society. However, it wasn’t until Dr. Priti Adani’s stewardship that the foundation began to reach new heights and positively touch the lives of millions across India. Under Her leadership, the foundation’s primary focus areas—education & healthcare—have seen remarkable growth and transformation.

The Foundation adopted a bottom-up approach, becoming direct implementers on the ground, with a strong emphasis on community engagement. Dr. Priti Adani’s ability to connect with the communities, understand their needs, and bring about positive change from within has been the cornerstone of the foundation’s initiatives.
In 1998, the Adani Foundation initiated welfare activities encompassing 22 villages in Mundra, focusing primarily on education and healthcare assistance. During these early years, Dr. Priti Adani, guided by her philanthropic spirit, led the charge, bringing light into the lives of the most underprivileged. In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in the Kutch district in 2001, she played a pivotal role in arranging basic amenities for thousands of individuals daily and spearheaded comprehensive rehabilitation efforts to help the affected communities restart their lives and livelihoods.

Healthcare and education have been at the core of the Adani Foundation’s activities, ensuring that good health and quality education are accessible to all. Under Dr. Priti Adani’s guidance, the Foundation introduced mobile healthcare units, rural clinics, and large-scale health camps, providing medical services to remote villages. The establishment of the Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences (GAIMS) in 2009, in partnership with the Government of Gujarat, marked a significant milestone in providing healthcare to the region. In the realm of education, Dr. Priti Adani’s vision led to the creation of full-fledged schools and holistic educational programs. From the inception of the Adani DAV Public School, now known as Adani Public School, to projects like Udaan and Adani Vidya Mandir, education opportunities were extended to thousands of students, regardless of their socio-economic background.
One of the most critical issues in water-starved and drought-prone Kutch district was water security. The Adani Foundation, under Dr. Priti Adani’s leadership, initiated water conservation and management projects, providing relief to local farmers and cattle owners. These efforts greatly increased the water levels in the region, alleviating the scarcity of drinking water and lack of irrigation sources.

The Adani Foundation also took steps to empower farmers and enable the youth in Mundra, organizing training programs, awareness meetings, and exposure tours. Several vocational training courses were introduced to align the skills of the youth with market demands, leading to the establishment of the Adani Skill Development Centre, which now provides training opportunities in over 13 states across India.

In addition to these core areas, the Foundation actively engaged with the fisherfolk community, working on mangrove afforestation and improving living conditions. The extensive support programs included providing basic amenities, constructing homes, promoting education, and offering support for fishing equipment.

Dr. Priti Adani’s philanthropic work reached its pinnacle during the COVID-19 pandemic, where the Adani Foundation battled misinformation, provided essential healthcare resources, and distributed relief materials. The Adani-GAIMS hospital in Bhuj served as a dedicated COVID-19 hospital, equipped with ICU facilities and oxygen support. This commitment to society, even in the face of unprecedented emergencies, demonstrates the unwavering dedication of the Foundation and its Chairperson.

From humble beginnings in 22 villages, Dr. Priti Adani’s visionary leadership has expanded the Foundation’s reach to 119 villages in Mundra, Mandvi, Anjar, Abdasa, and Bhuj Taluka, impacting the lives of 3.5 lakh individuals. What started as welfare activities has grown into a thriving economy, and the Adani Foundation, under her compassionate guidance, continues to be an integral part of this incredible journey.
In Dr. Priti Adani, the Chairperson of Adani Foundation, we see not just the human face of the Adani Group but a beacon of hope, compassion, and transformation. Her legacy is one of unyielding commitment to making the world a better place, one life, and one community at a time.
